LGBTQ+ Out in Nature Meet Up - Powderhorn Prairie & Marsh

  • Powderhorn Prairie and Marsh Nature Preserve South Brainard Avenue Burnham, IL, 60633 United States (map)

Join fellow LGBTQ+ outdoors enthusiasts for a nature walk to see birds, bugs & wildflowers!

About this event

Join us to explore one of the most biodiverse natural areas in the Chicago Region! We'll look for birds, bugs and wildflowers, led by volunteer butterfly and rare plant monitor John Legge. You won't want to miss this opportunity to take in diverse dune and swale habitat formed by the slow changes of the Lake Michigan shoreline over thousands of years.

We will meet at the North end of the parking lot located off S Brainard Ave, east of S Burnham Ave/S Ave O. Typing "Powderhorn Prairie and Marsh Nature Preserve" into Google Maps should get you right to the parking lot.

Participants must wear a face covering or mask when within 6 feet of others. We recommend bringing a water bottle, hat, and sunscreen and wearing weather-appropriate outdoor clothing, including long pants, and sturdy, close-toed shoes. Bug spray is also recommended. To protect the safety of all participants, we have limited the trip capacity to 25 people. Please RSVP using the Eventbrite platform to reserve a spot.
