Greetings everyone,
It's spring, so our highlights of the day all relate to nests and babies.
There was no activity in or around the nuthatch nest so we assume that the kids fledged in the last week. Although last Saturday was the first time we saw the chicks, their heads looked pretty large so they must have been just about ready to fly.
Eric discovered a common grackle nest in the Osaka garden, with mom or dad arriving with food. We couldn't see any chicks but we'll keep an eye on the nest.
And last but not least, there was a mallard mom with about 10 tiny ducklings trailing her. They were adorable and the mallard is still my favorite duck.
Birders: Marian, Steve, Jennie, Eric, Karin, Brendan, Jenna, David, Naomi, and of course, Doug with Copper.
Weather: 60s and cloudy, but we were lucky and the rain didn't begin until the end of the walk.
Many thanks to Eric for sharing his eBird list.
