This is part of a series of bird outings we will be leading at lesser birded sites within the Forest Preserves of Cook County during each season.
Bemis Woods offers excellent birding due to the 400-acre wooded area’s location along Salt Creek. In summertime it is possible to see woodpeckers including pileated and red-headed, as well as songbirds like cuckoos, indigo buntings and veeries.
Meeting Spot: Bemis Woods South. Park at Bemis Woods near Grove 7, which is north of and can be accessed by Ogden Ave., the northernmost part of the parking area.
Trip Leader: Kyle Wiktor
Limit: 12 participants; registration is required.
