Hello everyone,
Overall, it was a pretty slow day except for the fact that we had a raptor trifecta! A beautiful Cooper’s Hawk sat and posed for us on the island. Our gorgeous Red-shouldered hawk was also ready for his photo shoot near the music bridge. And, we finally saw our local Bald Eagle perched, rather than flying away from us as is it usually happens. We first saw it in a tree by the soccer field, and then we spotted it from the music bridge, sitting majestically in a tree right across DuSable Lake Shore Drive. None of us expected to see an eagle hanging out right above the traffic. And, we were lucky enough to be able to look at both the Red-Shouldered Hawk and the Bald Eagle in the same binocular view. These special visitors made up for the lack of birds on the rest of our walk and turned a ho hum walk into a great one.
