Join us for a Monday morning outing at Lake Katherine Nature Center and Botanic Gardens in Palos Heights! With features including different habitat types, nearby flowing water, and bird feeders, this site provides a winter escape for birds.
The walking distance will be about 1.75 miles on paved and earthen trails. If time permits, we may visit additional nearby birding hotspots.

PLEASE NOTE PARKING SITUATION FOR 10/14 OUTING: The first day of North Park Village’s Fall Festival coincides with this walk. To help ensure our vendors and staff have a smooth Fall Festival set-up, we kindly request that you park in a satellite parking lot for the Early Bird Walk on Saturday, October 14th.

Join us for a spring migration bird walk at Oak Forest Heritage Preserve, which hosts various habitat types and has a paved trail that is well-known for birding. The area is suitable for warblers, ducks, and grassland and woodland birds.
We will follow an approximately 2-mile loop trail that is a generally easy walking route.
Registration is REQUIRED with a capacity of 15 people.

A waterbird gem, Big Marsh is the largest contiguous wetland site in Cook County. Over the last hundred years, urban development resulted in degraded habitat and habitat loss. Big Marsh has now undergone extensive restoration efforts and boasts excellent habitat for many breeding and migrant bird species and other wildlife like turtles and muskrats. On this spring migration walk we can expect to see warblers, waterfowl and shorebirds.
Registration is REQUIRED with a capacity of 20 people.
