Learn about CBA’s new Help A Bird Out Challenge
The Chicago Bird Alliance would like to highlight the different ways YOU have helped birds this year. Starting today to the end of 2026, call out actions you’ve done that have been beneficial for birds, such as planting native plants, placing stickers on windows, and putting out a bird feeder.
How does it work?
When you have done any of the following this year, submit an entry via the button below:
Treated windows at home
Helped advocate to get windows treated
Planted native plants at home
Volunteered to plant native plants
Volunteered to clear invasive plants
Became a bird monitoring volunteer
Picked up trash at a park or natural area
Chose an alternative to pesticides
Signed a petition benefiting birds or their habitat
Contacted a legislator about a piece of legislation (ordinance, law, etc.) to help birds
Put up a feeder
Installed a bird bath
Built/purchased a bird house
Birded a rarely birded area and added results to eBird
Committed to keeping cats indoors
Switched to Bird Friendly Certified Coffee
Attended a 'Bird Collisions in the Anthropocene' workshop
Anything else that helped birds!
Don’t forget to include anything you’ve accomplished year-to-date, including for January and February!

Leaderboard
At the end of every month for the remainder of this year, starting on April 30th, a leaderboard will be updated to reflect the top ten participants with the most entries.
Raffle
At the beginning of 2027, CBA will run a raffle with binoculars and other prizes you could win! The more entries you have, the greater the chance of winning!
Badges
Collect badges along the way! If you make it to the leaderboard, you’ll see the badges you earned. Below are the different tiers, depending on the number of entries submitted:
1-3 entries: Friend
4-6 entries: Advocate
7-9 entries: Guardian
10-12 entries: Fighter
13-15 entries: Champion
15+ entries: Superhero
