On February 3rd, 2026, the City of Chicago Council held an Environmental Protection and Energy Meeting to discuss several items relating to Chicago’s wildlife. The last item of the meeting was an update on the Rat Contraceptive Pilot Program being held in Lincoln Park.

The discussion was introduced by Alderman Timmy Knudsen, and featured Matt Igleski, Executive Director of the Chicago Bird Alliance, and Alyssa Berman Cutler, Senior Director of Government Affairs at Lincoln Park Zoo.
