Try a new way of birding with Chicago Ornithological and Chicago Audubon!
We’ve teamed up to bring you the safety of birding alone with the fun and information of birding with a group.
Here’s how it works:
Bird our selected birding hotspots, using the maps and info we provide (click the links on their names below). Then, join us for an online Zoom discussion where we chat about the birds we all saw or heard, and how the habitat welcomes them.
Each Patch Chat will also feature ID tips and finding info for some of the special birds of the hotspot. New and experienced birders will enjoy these programs.
This Sunday we’ll discuss Gillson Park, Clark Street Beach Bird Sanctuary, Perkins Woods, Canal Shores Golf Course and the North Shore Channel with this wonderful group:
Heidi Natura, Living Habitats
Libby Hill, Julie Dorfman, Jerry Herst, Wendy Pollock, Allison Sloan, site stewards
John Bates, Field Museum
Josh Engel, Red Hill Birding
Charles Smith, Ladd Arboretum Committee
Birder Kat O’Reilly
Leslie Shad, Natural Habitat Evanston
Matt Rooney, Canal Shores
Join us for a virtual visit with a group that is transforming their community into a haven for birds. We’ll learn about bird habitat restorations going on in birding hotspots along Evanston’s two migration corridors, the North Shore Channel and the Lakefront, as well as across the border in Gillson Park.
Visit our Birding Hotspots page for more information
We’ll visit a new patch every fourth Sunday at 6 (this one is a little late!); grab your dinner and your favorite drink and chat with us!
