Hello everyone,
The weather was lousy during our walk but we had enough interesting sightings to keep us entertained. The mergansers are still in town, both Common and Red-breasted. A Horned Grebe was also present. Juncos are still here too but we saw our first of year Eastern Phoebe and Brown-headed Cowbird, sure signs of spring. The dramatic incident of the day was a Red-tailed hawk who was chased by three crows and two gulls. Poor hawk.
It was a mammal-filled day with three muskrats, a possum, a chipmunk and a raccoon that quickly scaled a tree in the Japanese garden and disappeared into a large hole in the trunk.
