Photo: Wood duck by Lindsay Vacek
Hello everyone,
It was a beautiful winter morning with bright sunshine and crisp cold air. But yes, it was quite cold. As always, we were rewarded for being intrepid birders, unafraid to go out in any weather. And we met our winter goal of having more bird species than birders!
A tiny Winter Wren was spotted by the north bridge. We found a Fox Sparrow again this week, this time by the south bridge. Above the Fox Sparrow was a very cold looking American Robin perched in a tree – I don’t think that I’ve ever seen one floofed up as much as this one was.
A gorgeous Northern Harrier flew right by us near the music bridge. It flew low enough to give us some great looks, and Eric got a wonderful photo. And the many Tree Sparrows were busily searching for seeds, leaving cute tracks in the snow.
