Photo: American tree sparrow by Karen Brown
Hello everyone,
What a lovely winter morning. There was no wind and the snow was falling softly, landing decoratively on all the plants. It was a beautiful scene!
While the birding was fairly slow, we did manage to get more bird species than birders, by one, so we achieved that goal. The lagoons were partially frozen so we had fewer ducks and herons than usual. We did, however, have an adorable raccoon in one of the tree cavities and we were lucky enough to have four Flickers.
We did have one semi-rare species; three Cackling Geese were hanging out with the hundreds of Canada Geese on the soccer field.
And, many of you were present a few weeks ago when we were being filmed by the Chicago Bird Alliance. Here’s the finished video: https://www.facebook.com/reel/387864903639317 We’re famous!
