Photo: Wilson’s warbler by Heather Roskelle
Hello everyone,
It didn’t seem terribly birdy when we were out there but we ended up with 68 species so it ended up being a good day. Warblers are arriving but the bulk of them weren’t there yet on Saturday (they seemed to arrive Saturday and Sunday night). We had a nice representation of our favorite spring visitors, just in fairly small numbers. We’re sure happy to see them though!
It seems to me that we have more Cliff Swallows under the north bridge than in prior years. They are so beautiful and incredibly fast flyers as they gather mud to make their nests. We had an Olive-Sided Flycatcher perched at the very top of a tree by the south bridge. Warbling Vireos were singing all over the place as were Yellow Warblers.
I hope you all have an opportunity to get out and bird this week!
