Hello everyone,

BIRDERS: Luther, Dennis, Mark C., Marian, Jennie, Cheryl, Roger, Paul, Lucy, Mike, Daniela, Larry, Beth, Nathan, Jan, Isabelle, Eric, Renate, Colm, Pam, and welcome to John, Samantha, and Julian.

It was another gorgeous spring morning. The Purple Martins were in abundance, flying around, keeping house, and making their wonderful sounds. A Scarlet Tanager sighting was a hit and we got a nice look at a female Orchard Oriole.

The Red-winged Blackbirds are defending their territory – we saw one chasing a Downy Woodpecker and another buzzing a Great Blue Heron that must have gotten too close to the nest.

We had our first cicada sighting in the park, although we haven’t heard them buzzing…yet.

It was family day again with a Mallard with eight ducklings and another look at the mama raccoon with her 2 kits in their favorite tree cavity. We only got a good look at one of the kits but we could see movement in the background that was obviously the other kit. They are so adorable!
