Join us in Northfield at Watersmeet Woods, a preserve with a mix of woods and open area that attracts displaying woodcock in spring migration. We will get in place around sunset and quietly listen and look for displaying birds for about an hour. It is a short walk on uneven grass trail to get in place for viewing and can be wet or muddy underfoot. Please dress warmly for the weather as this is less a walk than a wait, and temperatures can drop once the sun goes down. Long pants and tucked socks to guard against ticks are recommended. Flashlights will be welcome for leaving the field, but please limit their use during the watch to not compromise our night vision. Free street parking in the surrounding neighborhood is available.
