Washington Park Birding Outing

  • Washington Park Chicago, Illinois (map)

Join CBA for an afternoon bird walk at Washington Park. This 345-acre hotspot packs diverse habitats including woodland and wetland. We will walk a roughly 1-mile loop around the park's lagoons in search of Chicago's wild wonders as the sun sets. Birders of all experience levels and ages are welcome to attend. Loaner binoculars will be available on a first-come-first-served basis.

This trip is designed to be a slow-paced, social bird walk to take the time and enjoy sunset scenery. Total trip distance is approximately 1 mile. Most of the trip will take place on mostly relatively flat asphalt, grass, and natural dirt terrain prone to muddy conditions with recurring occasional trail obstacles including root heave and holes. Dress for the weather and wear sensible shoes. Cell reception is regularly available. Washington Park can be readily accessed with public transportation via buses 2, 3, 4, 15, 55, 59, 192; red Line at Garfield or 63rd; and Metra ME line at University of Chicago/59th St
