Birding at Douglass Park

  • Douglass Park Chicago, IL (map)

End the daylight hours with a CBA bird walk at Douglass Park. This 160-acre hotspot packs diverse habitats including prairie, savanna, and wetland. We will walk around the park’s lagoons in search of Chicago’s wild wonders as the sun sets. Birders of all experience levels and ages are welcome to attend.

This trip is designed to be a medium-paced, social bird walk to take the time and enjoy sunset scenery. Total trip distance is approximately 1.5 miles. Most of the trip will take place on mostly relatively flat asphalt, grass, and natural dirt terrain prone to muddy conditions with recurring occasional trail obstacles including root heave and holes. There will be about two times where the group will use a crosswalk to cross a busy street. Dress for the weather and snowy conditions. Restrooms and water fountains are available inside the field house building. Cell reception is regularly available.

The site is accessible by public transit via CTA buses 12, 18, 21, 52, 94, 157 and Pink Line at California.

Registration is required and capped at 15 individuals. More details will be provided to registered attendees ahead of the trip if/as needed.
