We will explore this 960 acre restored prairie in the Southwest corner of Cook County. Target birds will be returning grassland breeding species such as, Bobolinks, Dickcissels, Eastern Meadowlarks. Sparrows such as Henslow’s, Field, Grasshopper and Songs also breed here. Other notable species known to breed here are, Bell’s Vireos, Yellow-breasted chats, and Blue Buntings. We will stay in mostly paved trails, but may venture onto mowed paths if conditions allow.
Wear comfortable walking shoes, as the majority of the walk will be on paved or gravel trails. Sunscreen and insect repellant are recommended.
Registration is required and capped at 10 individuals. More details will be provided to registered attendees ahead of the trip if/as needed.
