Birding at Washington Park

  • Washington Park Chicago, IL (map)

End the daylight hours with a CBA bird walk at Washington Park. This 345-acre hotspot packs diverse habitats including woodland and wetland. We will walk roughly a roughly 1-mile loop around the park’s lagoons in search of Chicago’s wild wonders as the sun sets. Birders of all experience levels and ages are welcome to attend. Loaner binoculars will be available.

Buses 2, 3, 4, 15, 55, 59, 192. Red Line at Garfield or 63rd. Metra ME line at University of Chicago/59th Street.

This trip is designed to be a medium-paced, social bird walk to tally as many species as possible before the sun sets. Total trip distance is approximately 1 mile. Most of the trip will take place on mostly relatively flat asphalt, grass, and natural dirt terrain prone to muddy conditions with recurring occasional trail obstacles including root heave and holes. Dress for the weather and wear sensible shoes. Restrooms and water fountains are available inside the field house building. Cell reception is regularly available.

Registration is required and capped at 15 individuals. More details will be provided to registered attendees ahead of the trip if/as needed.
