Hello everyone,
I am inviting you on this Owl Prowl to look for Short-eared Owls, which is a species of migratory owl that has regularly shown up in Park 566 in the past every winter. We will meet up at 6 AM to hopefully see Short-eared Owls being active at sunrise. Afterwards, we will head towards Steelworkers Park to see waterfowl on the harbor between Park 566 and Steelworkers as they start arriving and settling for the winter.
Please be mindful it may be cold during the walk, so please dress up accordingly and wear lots of layers. When arriving, we will meet in the entrance of the park that is located next to the bus station between S. Lakeshore Dr. and S. Farragut Dr. The best way to get here through public transit is to take the Jackson Park express (Bus #6) which ends its route right in that bus stop, or take the red line to 79th street and then take the 79th bus that also ends at that bus stop. I will wait a few minutes for all of you.
Please note: registration is required with capacity limited to 20 participants
