Birding at Deer Grove Forest Preserve

  • Deer Grove Forest Preserve (map)

Join CBA for an afternoon birding trip at Deer Grove in Palatine. The Forest Preserves of Cook County manages the property’s savannas, woodlands, and wetlands that host over 200 bird species throughout the year. During this time of year, we hope to observe spring migratory species such as warblers and sparrows.

This trip is designed to be a slow-paced, social bird walk traveling roughly 1.5 miles of trails. The trip will take place on mostly grass, natural dirt, and medium-sized loose stone with recurring slight inclines and declines and occasional obstacles including uneven terrain, roots, and holes. Dress for the weather. Restrooms and water fountains are not readily available onsite. Cell reception is regularly available.

Registration is required and capped at 15 individuals. More details will be provided to registered attendees ahead of the trip if/as needed.

Trip Leader: Sammy Cabindol
