Hello everyone,
It was a relatively slow late fall morning, but as always, we saw some interesting birds. We had our first Northern Shoveler of the season in the east lagoon. Our Golden-crowned Kinglets are still around in pretty good numbers and we were happy to see two juvenile Black-crowned Night Herons roosting on the shore.
The birds were feisty today; a murder of American Crows was chasing a Cooper’s hawk and an American Kestrel was chasing a Red-tailed Hawk.
Raccoons were sleeping in the sun in both known raccoon tree cavities. The highlight of the day was the sighting of five Eastern Bluebirds in the soccer field. We haven’t seen bluebirds in some time so it was great fun to watch them.
