Hello everyone,

It was a lovely morning with lots of birds and birders. A Bald Eagle flew majestically over us at the start of the walk. We had the heron trifecta but no egret today.

Migration is pretty much over but we have our summer residents to keep us happy. We saw and heard lots of Northern Yellow Warblers, Baltimore Orioles, Warbling Vireos, Eastern Wood Pewees, Cedar Waxwings and more.

The Purple Martins were busily setting up house and we’ll surely see newly fledged juveniles in a short time. A cute juvenile Brown-headed Cowbird came close and looked at us curiously, being too young to realize that it should be afraid of us. A late Dark-eyed Junco was hanging out by the Osaka Garden and eBird flagged it as rare so it’s a good thing that Madhu got a photo to prove that we weren’t hallucinating.
